Understanding financial permissions and restricted company access

Financial permissions are intentionally more granular than a project role.

Financial permissions are intentionally more granular than a project role.

Best for: Administrators and users missing a menu or action · Outcome: Identify the exact access to change.

A user may be allowed to:

  • View all financials or only records tied to companies they belong to
  • View the Prime Contract, vendor Commitments, or both
  • Submit invoices without approving them
  • Approve invoices without unapproving them
  • View payments without adding or editing them
  • View reports without managing source records
  • Edit Draft records but not executed contracts

Subcontractors commonly receive restricted access to their own company. Do not broaden a user's role solely to expose one financial action; adjust the specific permission where possible.

The Invoices page routes users to the Subcontractors or Owner view based on their permissions. Two people can therefore see different tabs and records on the same project.
