Using drawings on a phone or tablet
Constructable's mobile drawing experience keeps the current plans, viewer tools, and connected project records available in the field.
Constructable's mobile drawing experience keeps the current plans, viewer tools, and connected project records available in the field.
Best for: Field users · Outcome: Find current plans, mark issues, and understand which desktop workflows are unavailable.
Browse drawings
Phones, tablets, and the native app use thumbnail view for the drawing index. Sheets remain grouped by discipline, and you can:
- Switch drawing areas
- Filter by number or title
- Filter by drawing tags
- Open starred sheets
- Select a sheet thumbnail
Desktop list selection and bulk actions are not shown on mobile. Use desktop web when you need to edit or download many drawings at once.
Navigate the viewer
The mobile viewer uses touch-oriented controls for:
- Pan and zoom
- Previous and next sheet
- Sheet selection
- Markup tools
- Measurements
- Pins and connected records
On supported devices, haptic feedback confirms some tool and sheet selections. Phone and tablet layouts differ, so a control may move into a menu or drawer when space is limited.
Work in landscape
Landscape orientation gives the drawing more room and is often more comfortable for markup or measurement. The viewer accounts for device safe areas so controls remain clear of notches and system bars.
Know the mobile limits
The native app does not offer new-tab or Split View actions, including on tablets. Mobile web may expose Split View on a large enough tablet. Overlay comparison is available on mobile web and in the native app.
For side-by-side comparison or drawing administration, use desktop web. For overlays, viewing, pins, comments, and field markup, mobile can support the field workflow.
On phones, the bottom bar changes with your active tool. If the sheet selector or revision control seems to have disappeared, select Done or switch back to Pan. Viewer modes such as Topics, RFIs, Submittals, Quality Lists, search, and markup visibility are available from the ellipsis menu.
Prepare before heading to the field
If connectivity may be unreliable, store important sheets on the device while you're online. See Storing drawings for offline viewing.
