Publishing and unpublishing drawings

Publishing is the step that makes confirmed sheets available as current project drawings.

Best for: Drawing administrators · Requires: Confirmed sheets; desktop web for bulk release controls.

Confirming vs. publishing

These are intentionally separate:

• Confirming verifies the sheet's identity and details.
• Publishing makes the revision visible to project members with drawing access.

This gives drawing administrators a chance to review an entire issuance before releasing it.

Publish a drawing set

1. Open Add/Edit Drawing Sets.
2. Open the set you want to release.
3. Select sheets if you only want to publish part of the set.
4. Open Bulk Actions.
5. Choose Publish All or Publish Selected.
6. Review the confirmation message and publish.

Only confirmed sheets assigned to a drawing can be published. Published sheets receive revision numbers and become available from the Drawings page.

If you're already viewing an eligible unpublished sheet, drawing administrators may also see a publish action in the viewer's revision notice.

Example — ASI 3: Publish the approved A101 page when it is ready. Constructable makes it the current A101 while keeping the earlier revision in the viewer's history.

Bulk publish and unpublish controls are available from the desktop-web drawing-set workflow. They are not shown in mobile web or the native app. Use desktop web when releasing or withdrawing several sheets at once.

Publish in stages

You can publish selected sheets without releasing the whole set. This is useful when:

• A partial issuance is approved before the rest.
• A few sheets still need correction.
• Different disciplines are released at different times.

The drawing set status reports how many sheets remain unpublished.

Unpublish a sheet

Unpublishing removes a revision from the main drawing index for regular project viewers. The sheet remains available to drawing administrators from the drawing set workflow.

You can unpublish selected sheets or every published sheet in a set. Use this when a revision was released by mistake or needs to be corrected before redistribution.

Unpublishing can change the revision sequence and which older revision is considered current. If your goal is to issue a corrected version, uploading and publishing a new revision is often clearer than unpublishing historical work.

Let the team know

Publishing and unpublishing create drawing activity events and may notify eligible subscribed project members. Bidders are excluded from publish-event recipients even when they can view drawings. Use a clear set name so recipients understand what changed.
