Constructable helps you move from a question or phrase to the project records you are allowed to use. Keyword Search finds matching content, semantic search can find conceptually related content, and AI can synthesize available sources into an answer.

Permission-aware discovery
Search and AI apply project and record access checks when retrieving Constructable information. A result, generated answer, Chat, notification, or direct link does not grant access to a hidden record.
This means two people can receive different results or answers for the same request. Their project membership, role permissions, record sharing, and available project data may differ.
Search for sources, AI for synthesis
Use keyword Search when you know a number, name, company, or distinctive phrase and want to open the source record. Semantic matching can improve discovery when the wording in the project differs from your query.
Use an AI answer or Chat when you need a summary, comparison, or explanation across available project information. AI answers remain generated interpretations, not source records, approvals, contractual decisions, or complete reports.
Source-linked answers
When supported source material is found, AI responses link back to project records so you can inspect the evidence. Drawing references can open the relevant sheet and highlight the exact matched phrase when readable drawing text and a precise match are available.
Links and highlights are aids to review. A scan may not contain usable text, a phrase may not be recognized, and a linked record may later be moved, archived, deleted, or restricted.
What this means for you
- Search results and project information used by AI are limited to what your account can access in the current project context.
- Exact words are useful for known records; focused natural-language questions are useful for synthesis.
- Open source links before relying on statuses, dates, quantities, assignments, approvals, or contract language.
- Different users may see different evidence without either view being a permission error.
Limits and responsible use
Search and AI require an online connection. Recently added or changed content can take time to become searchable, especially when files need text extraction or semantic processing. Scanned images, poor-quality PDFs, uncommon wording, and unsupported record types can reduce coverage.
AI can omit relevant material or produce an incorrect interpretation. It does not guarantee that every historical change or visible word was included. Use a report or the authoritative project tool when completeness and totals are required, and record formal decisions in the appropriate workflow.
