Bidding Help

Review invitations and submit bids as a bidder.

Use this guide when a general contractor invites your company to a Bid Package. It covers reviewing the request, recording intent, submitting pricing, updating a response, and bidder access.

Start here

Review and respond

Open the Bidder Portal

  1. Open Preconstruction → Bidder Portal.
  2. Select an invitation assigned to your company.
  3. Review the package overview, due date, instructions, assigned scopes, and attachments.

The Bidder Portal shows your company's invitations without exposing the general contractor's Bid Management workspace. It appears when your company is on a bid list for the project and your role can view invited bids.

Respond to the invitation

Select:

  • Will Bid to record your intent and open the submission form.
  • Will Not Bid to decline and stop follow-up email for that package.

You can change either choice while the Bid Package is open. A closed package remains viewable, but its response controls are disabled.

Note: Will Bid does not submit pricing. The general contractor sees the bid as Received only after you select Submit Bid.

Submit or update a bid

  1. Open the invitation and select Will Bid.
  2. Enter the required amount and notes.
  3. If scopes are assigned, complete the amount and notes for each scope.
  4. Add supporting attachments.
  5. Select Submit Bid.
  6. Review the confirmation and submitted values.

Submission changes the status to Received. While the package remains open, select Update Bid to correct amounts, notes, or attachments.

Emailing a proposal to the package manager does not submit it in Constructable. Use Submit Bid so the response appears in Received Bids. If the manager imports your PDF through Chat, confirm the values they recorded before relying on the bid.

Access, notifications, and platforms

  • View bids may be limited to Only bids I'm invited to.
  • Respond bid requests sent to me enables intent and submission controls.
  • Your company must be on the package's bid list, and you must be one of its active bidding contacts.
  • Bidder Portal has web and native layouts. Desktop web is easiest for reviewing large attachments; mobile and native layouts support reviewing and responding.
  • Invitations and follow-up messages are sent to the bidding contact address. Your account notification preferences do not change whether your company is on the bid list.

Closing a package prevents submissions and updates. If it was your only open invitation and you have only the Bidder project role, closing can also remove your project access. Reopening the package or receiving another open invitation restores bidder access.

Troubleshoot bidding

Bidder Portal is missing

Confirm you are in the intended project, your company is on at least one Bid Package, you are an active bidding contact, and your role has View bids.

The invitation is missing

Ask the package manager to confirm your company is on that package and that your user is one of its designated bidding contacts.

The response controls are disabled

The package is probably closed. Contact the package manager if you need it reopened.

My bid is not marked Received

Open the response and select Submit Bid. Choosing Will Bid or emailing a proposal does not complete submission.

I found an error after submitting

Select Update Bid while the package is open. If it is closed, contact the package manager before the correction deadline.

I chose Will Not Bid by mistake

Open the invitation and change your intent while the package remains open.
