Statuses, ball-in-court, and visibility

Ball-in-court shows responsibility, not status. While an RFI is Open, it can be assigned to respondents or returned to the manager. Closed and cancelled RFIs are not respondable.

  • Draft: Editable preparation record. Drafts do not have an active RFI number.
  • Open: Available for responses and assigned an RFI number.
  • Closed: The question is complete. Closing can include distribution.
  • Cancelled: The result of deleting an RFI; it is removed from normal active use.

Restricted RFI access means users can see non-draft RFIs and drafts created by their company. Full read access exposes all RFIs. A notification does not grant permission to open a record.
