Importing a bid with a Chat skill
A subcontractor sends a bid PDF, and the matching company and bid already exist in Constructable. Import bid reads the proposal, matches its amounts and notes to the existing bid scopes, and marks the bid Received so you can review the result instead of retyping it.
A subcontractor sends a bid PDF, and the matching company and bid already exist in Constructable. Import bid reads the proposal, matches its amounts and notes to the existing bid scopes, and marks the bid Received so you can review the result instead of retyping it.
You'll need AI Chat, bid-management access, and an existing bid for the subcontractor in the correct Bid Package.
- Open Chat.
- Select Skills, then Import bid.
- Attach the subcontractor bid PDF.
- Ask Chat to import the bid.
- Review and answer any questions about the project, company, Bid Package, bid, or scope matching. Chat asks when a match is ambiguous.
- After Chat reports completion, open the existing bid.
- Verify the total, scope amounts, notes, Received status, and source PDF before using the bid for an award decision.
Note: The skill updates an existing bid. It doesn't create the Bid Package, company, or bid record, so set those up first through the normal bid-management workflow.
Note: The selected skill stays active for that Chat until you clear its skill badge.
If the source isn't a subcontractor bid, or the matching company and bid aren't available, provide a clearer file or complete the normal bid workflow manually.
For package setup, bidder selection, and bid review, see Constructable Preconstruction Help Articles.
Does this create a new bid?
No. It updates the matching existing bid and marks it Received. Create the Bid Package and add the subcontractor to its bid list before using the skill.
What happens if Chat can't match a scope amount?
It asks rather than guessing. Answer the question about the project, company, Bid Package, bid, or scope, then verify every imported amount against the PDF.
Use the skill for the typing, then make the award decision from the verified bid.
