Time Cards by Constructable

Construction timesheet software for general contractors

Our construction timesheet software records your employees' hours by project, sub project, and cost code, then turns them into labor cost on the job without anyone rekeying a timesheet. Crews log hours from the daily log or their phone, and we do flat pricing with unlimited users.

Time cards

One time card per person per day, split across every job

Each time card covers one employee on one date. Add a line for every project they worked, with its own hours, hour type, cost code, and notes.

• A foreman on two jobs: add a line for each project, with a sub project when the job uses them

• PTO and holidays: set each line's hour type to Regular, Holiday, PTO, or Unpaid so payroll can tell worked hours apart

• Backup for the hours: attach a signed paper timesheet or a photo of the crew board

• A second card for the same day: Constructable opens the existing card instead, so you add a line rather than a duplicate

The Edit Time Card sheet in Constructable beside the Time Cards grid, with two line items for one day: 6 hours on Riverfront Mixed-Use Development, Residential Tower, and 3 hours on Lamar Medical Office Building, both Regular hours on 06.100 Rough Carpentry, and the pointer on Add Line Item

Daily log

Log the crew's hours while you write the daily log

Turn on the Time Cards section and your superintendent enters hours right in the daily log. Entries open in a sheet over the log, and they're the same records as the company Time Cards page.

• Same crew as yesterday: choose Repeat Time Cards from last log, then fix the hours that changed

• The whole day in one place: each line shows the employee, hours, cost code, sub project, and hour type next to the rest of the log

• Entered once: hours on the log show up on Time Cards and in payroll totals with no second entry

The Time Cards section of a Constructable daily log for November 3, 2026, listing six employees with their hours, cost code, sub project, hour type, and notes, and the pointer on Add Time Card

Job cost

Hours become labor cost on the right cost code

Set each employee's hourly cost rate and cost code once. Their lines pick up that cost code and cost type, and every line with a project creates a payroll cost in Non-Committed Costs.

• No rekeying: each payroll cost shows the math, such as 7.0 hours × $62.00/hr, and updates when the hours change

• The right budget line: the cost lands on the line's cost code, cost type, and sub project, so it rolls up in the budget

• A raise mid-job: change the rate, and the costs from later hours follow it

• Which plan: Non-Committed Costs and Budget come with the Field, Project, and Financial Management plan

Non-Committed Costs for Riverfront Mixed-Use Development in Constructable, listing one payroll cost per employee per day with its cost code, date, amount, and a memo such as Marco Alvarez: 7.0 hours × $62.00/hr

Payroll totals

Total the pay period without a spreadsheet

The Time Cards grid lists every line from every project. Group by person, filter to the pay period, and the total row at the bottom adds up the hours in view.

• Hours per person: group by Person / Date, Person, Date, or Project, and each group shows its own subtotal

• Worked hours only: filter Hour Type to Regular to leave out PTO and holidays

• Send it to payroll: download the grid as a PDF or CSV, with the grouping you chose

• Across every job: the Time Cards report in Global Reports and each project's Daily Logs - Time Cards Report show the same hours in report form

The Time Cards grid in Constructable grouped by person and filtered to dates on or after October 26, 2026 and Regular hours, with one employee's lines expanded, a 400.5 hour total row, and the pointer on Download as PDF

Field access

Foremen log their own hours from their phone

Employees start with Only my time cards, so a foreman can add and edit their own hours without seeing anyone else's. Office staff with All time cards see the whole crew.

• On the phone: tap + on Time Cards in the Constructable app, or add hours from the day's daily log

• Their own card: Person stays set to the foreman, and the cost code comes from their rate

• Separate levels: viewing time cards and editing them each have their own All time cards or Only my time cards setting

Two iPhones showing the Constructable app as a carpenter foreman: the November 3, 2026 daily log with only his own 6 hours of rough carpentry in the Time Cards section, and the Time Cards page grouped by date with his hours for each day, edit and delete buttons on each card, and a 150.5 hour total

QuickBooks Online

Bring QuickBooks Online time activities into Time Cards

If your crews already track time in QuickBooks Online, those hours can land in Constructable.

  • Time activities sync in: once the Time Cards mappings are set up, QuickBooks time activities arrive as time card lines for the linked employee, on the project linked to that QuickBooks customer or job.
  • New jobs: push a project to QuickBooks from Project Settings so crews can code time to it before the Prime Contract exists.
  • One direction: hours come from QuickBooks into Constructable. Constructable doesn't send hours to QuickBooks or run payroll.

Christian Allen, Estimator/Project Manager at Trinity Builds: Trinity Builds recently made the switch from an industry leading Project Management platform to Constructable.ai. This has been absolutely amazing. For many years, they had been the industry standard, but has neglected to keep up with cutting edge technology, as well as neglecting customer service. Constructable.ai has so many incredible usable features, including an internal AI agent that can search drawings and specs and give real time answers. One of my favorite features is the AI agent Import Bid feature, which will take an emailed bid from a sub contractor and detail the full scope of work, inclusions and exclusions, and pricing clarifications.

Email to Molly about Constructable submittal status: I’m not sure who requested this updated feature, but this is GREAT! Really. I love the stamp. Very helpful for the superintendent or the on-site team to know the status of the submittals while they are not always implicated in the back and forth before the review. Thank you for that.

Jennifer Sears, Operations Administrator: If you know me well, you will be surprised that I'm recommending a program that has a lot of AI features. And I'm loving this program! After suffering through a couple of older project management platforms, Constructable.ai is in a league of its own! In an industry where communication, coordination, and access to accurate information can make or break a project, having a platform that helps keep everything organized and accessible is a huge advantage. Constructable.ai does a great job of bringing project information together in one place, making it easier for teams to stay aligned, find what they need, and make informed decisions without wasting time digging through emails, folders, and disconnected systems. For contractors looking for ways to improve efficiency, communication, and overall project organization, Constructable.ai is definitely worth checking out. If you would like an introduction to the absolutely rock star Constructable.ai Team, let me know. I'll hook you up! I promise, you will be impressed.

Email to John: That deep dive was such a valuable session specifically because of how you ran it. You came out to listen. They didn’t just take away Constructable knowledge but saw how you use Claude. To the whole Constructable team: thank you for being the kind of partner we point to when people ask what a good vendor relationship looks like. You listen, you take feedback seriously, and you keep shipping updates that make the product better for the people using it in the field and in the office.

Miguel Melo, General Superintendent at The Eminence Group: Talk about a seamless transition when my company decided to board with Constructable as our construction management platform. The training process was immaculate, the interface was very familiar and intuitive, and we had a great surprise when we requested rich-text formatting for the daily log to color code certain information and had it implemented the following day. The built-in tools are also something good. Take-off tools, budgets, schedules, and their AI search tool takes everything to the next level. Entirely happy that we made the switch.

I have something to share with you guys that I just did on here and I was using the chatbot function for our site. And it gave me the exact location that I had previously figured out using Math. Where the floor penetration would be so the math checks. It’s pretty cool.

Molly, just wanted to send a huge thank you for coming in and absolutely crushing the Constructable training with our team yesterday. Seriously, it felt more like a masterclass than a walkthrough. You did an awesome job breaking everything down in a way that actually clicked for everyone, and the energy and knowledge you brought made a big impact. We really appreciate you taking the time to answer questions, share tips and tricks, and help us connect the dots on how to make our workflows smoother and more efficient.

We were discussing construction management software over the weekend and he was very impressed with the capabilities of Constructable. Emma, Molly and John are the founders at Constructable. I cannot say enough good things about how helpful they have been since we joined Constructable as a user. The software speaks for itself, and their responsiveness to user feedback is unmatched.

Hello Molly, thanks for doing that. I logged in on my phone, and everything looks great! I am very excited to start using Constructable! Everything was quick to display, and I even added a photo album. It looked like everything was there and very simple to navigate which is extremely important. I also noticed Sunbelt Rentals and Best Block had their logos next to their names.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can field crews enter their own hours from their phone?

Yes. In the Constructable app for iPhone, iPad, and Android, open Time Cards and tap +, or add hours from the day's daily log. Employees start with "Only my time cards," so they can add and edit their own hours without seeing anyone else's.

Do time cards post to job cost automatically?

Yes. With Automatically Sync Time Cards to Non-Committed Costs turned on, which is the default, every line that has a project, a cost code, and an hourly cost rate for that employee creates a payroll cost in the project's Non-Committed Costs. The cost lands on the line's cost code and sub project and updates when the hours change. Non-Committed Costs is part of the Field, Project, and Financial Management plan.

Can one employee split a day across several projects?

Yes. One time card covers one person on one date. Add a line item for each project they worked, each with its own hours and notes.

Can I enter hours from the daily log?

Yes, once an admin turns on the Time Cards Section in Organization Settings. Hours entered on the daily log are the same records as the Time Cards page, so nobody enters them twice. See our construction daily log software.

How do I total hours for a pay period?

On Time Cards, group by Person, filter Date to the pay period, and read the total row at the bottom of the grid. Each group shows its own subtotal. Download the grid as a PDF or CSV to send to payroll.

Does it track PTO and holidays?

Yes. Each line has an hour type: Regular, Holiday, PTO, or Unpaid. Hour type labels the hours for payroll and reporting but doesn't change the labor cost, so leave the project or cost code off a PTO line that shouldn't cost a job.

Does it work with QuickBooks?

Yes, in one direction. Once the Time Cards mappings are set up, QuickBooks Online time activities sync into Time Cards for the linked employee and project. Constructable doesn't send hours to QuickBooks.

Does it have GPS clock-in or overtime rules?

No. Hours are entered on each line, copied from the last daily log, or synced from QuickBooks Online. There's no clock-in, GPS, or overtime calculation. Book a demo and we'll walk through how your payroll process would fit.

Can I track subcontractor labor too?

Time cards are for your own employees. Subcontractor headcount and hours go in the daily log's Personnel section, where each sub can log their own crew.
